Susan began quilting in the late 80s taking classes at a community center in Massachusetts. After moving to Nelsonville, she purchased her first long arm machine in 2003 and opened up a small studio called Nelsonville Quilt Company. In early 2005, she decided Nelsonville needed a full fledged quilt store. Renovations began in late May of 2005 and the offical ribbon cutting ocurred in September of 2005. A second long arm quilting machine with a computer was purchased in 2010. In April of 2012, we expanded into the other side of the building, doubling our size. Susan continues to long arm quilt. In addition, she goes to many quilt shows and will visit guild meetings to promote her shop. She and her husband travel and set up TinLizzie Quilting machines, making sure the customers are well-trained after purchasing a TinLizzie. Before quilting, Susan taught Family and Consumer Sciences classes to middle and high school students for fifteen years. She received a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts from the State University of New York. Susan takes great pride in trying to know "most" of her customers by name and giving the best customer service that she can. When she is not at the shop, she enjoys spending time with her two sons and their families.
